The Mainstream Media’s Double Standard

Here is yet another perfect example of the Mainstream Media’s (MSM) double standard when it comes to airing graphic material. If you haven’t heard, the UK has put together a Public Service Ad (PSA) which is intended to “scare” or educate young people on the dangers of text-messaging while driving. The PSA shows, in graphic detail, a fictional account of a car of young girls getting into an accident because the driver was text-messaging on her cell phone. The video is considered so graphic that it has generated a lot of controversy.

But is the video “too disturbing to show on television”? Quite the contrary. CNN has aired the graphic portion of the PSA in its entirety, before which the commentator warned, “This is very difficult to watch, but you need to see it. It could save your life.” And while the PSA plays for a second time in the background, the host of the show discusses the video with guest, Michael Sinclair, of the Automotive Club of New York, who admits, “It’s very hard hitting, but that is the reality of the situation… It’s hard hitting, but I think we need to show these kind of things.”

Contrast this to the coverage the Anti-Choice Project and the Center for Bio-Ethical Reform have received over the years. Despite it having been proved without a doubt that graphic images of abortion change the minds of women and men thinking of killing their babies, not to mention the life saving impact these images have by swaying public opinion against the act itself, it remains to be seen that any major news outlet would air images or video of aborted babies because it could save a life. Rather, it would seem the MSM goes out of its way to cover up these images for this very reason. But I guess it’s no secret that the MSM believes this act, which is “too disturbing” to show on television, is a constitutionally protected right.

Compare the above to coverage of CBR’s Reproductive Choice Campaign:

Kitsap Sun Publishes Police Report

The Kitsap Sun has published the police report of Sunday’s incident of assault against one of our demonstrators. The report inaccurately describes the assault as merely being soda thrown, when it was really the whole cup with soda and ice in it that was thrown square in the face of one of our protesters (see video).

Join in, defend and support the ACP and help us denounce all acts of violence, including the killing of abortionist George Tiller, the act of assault against our demonstrator and most of all the dismemberment of children in the womb by abortion.

Pro-Choice Violence

Violence committed by pro-choicers against pro-lifers is unheard of in the news despite being a regular occurrence. During our most recent demonstration, an upset woman and her grown children approached some of our demonstrators and screamed belligerently in their faces. The video below documents the incident, including the act of assault committed against one of our demonstrators (seen at about 1 min 58 sec), where a young woman threw a cup (with soda and ice) at the face of a pro-life sign holder.

Indeed it is no surprise that those willing to tolerate and condone violence against unborn humans might also be willing to commit violence against born humans.

ACP Condems All Abortion Related Violence

This morning, George Tiller, the infamous late term abortionist from Kansas, was shot dead on his way into church. This unfortunate news comes as a reminder of why abortion abolitionists must oppose all abortion related violence. Because, just as abortion is an unjustifiable act of violence, so too is any violence waged against abortionists, no matter the hundreds or thousands of innocent pre-born he or she is responsible for killing.

The Anti-Choice Project condemns all abortion related violence and will not associate with groups or individuals who fail to condemn such violence. We recommend reading the following chapter from Joe Sheidler’s book “Closed,” called Violence: Why it won’t work.

Belfair Protest = Another Letter to the Editor

The ACP made it’s first debut outside Kitsap County this past Saturday as we protested in Belfair, WA. It was an great location to expose “Choice” and the response was greatly supportive. There were of course a few who made sure we knew we were not welcome. A lady shouted out her car window, “What are you doing in Belfair?! They don’t even have an abortion clinic here!” But the truth is, people in Belfair are having abortions, have had abortions and are complacent in the injustice of abortion, as is true all across America. She continued, “You’re going to get yourselves shot!” She then proceeded to hurl eggs at one of us — though we were fortunate she had poor aim.

Not at all surprising that someone willing to tolerate violence against unborn human beings would have no problem acting out violently against born human beings.

This weekend’s protest has inspired yet another letter to the editor, this time calling into question whether holding pictures of aborted babies constitutes free speech. Please read and comment:
The letter writer’s question has been answered in several court cases, most recently the 9th circuit court decision Center for Bio-Ethical Reform vs. LA County Sheriffs Department:

“the government cannot silence messages simply because they cause discomfort, fear, or even anger.”

Fr. Frank Pavone – It’s All About Life Conference

This Sunday, Tom and myself, along with family members, friends, and hundreds united in the fight against the Culture of Death, were privileged to hear Fr. Frank Pavone speak at the It’s All About Life Conference in Seattle. Fr. Pavone founded Priests for Life in 1993, one of the leading pro-life organizations in the United States. Priests for Life has partnered with Rachel’s Vineyard, the largest post-abortion healing ministry in the world, and Silent No More Awareness, a campaign which includes a coalition of women and men who speak out about their regret to abort their children. Fr. Pavone is decidedly one of the most dynamic and influential leaders in the Pro-Life Movement; a man who has dedicated his life to defending the most vulnerable in our society.

Fr. Pavone speaking to a crowd of about 150 outside Planned Parenthood in Seattle
Fr. Pavone gave an outstanding talk which presented the way forward for the Pro-Life Movement, in part by highlighting the many ways in which we are winning this fight in America, in spite of the recent set backs which have come from President Obama’s pro-abortion agenda. Among many powerful statements, the following struck me:
Public servants who can’t tell the difference between serving the public and killing the public do not belong in public office.

Discussing the ACP with Fr. Pavone
Tom & Andrew with Fr. Pavone
Before his talk, Tom and I had the opportunity to tell him about The Anti-Choice Project. I told him it was, in part, his strong defense of using the graphic images and his statement that “America will not reject abortion until America sees abortion” which inspired us to start the ACP. Fr. has written extensively about the necessity for the Pro-Life Movement to expose the truth of abortion through the use of graphic images. To our surprise, Fr. said he had heard of our group and seemed thrilled about the work we are doing. We spoke to him about our aspirations to see this effort spread to cities throughout the nation — that is, pro-lifers across America taking the truth of abortion to the streets with such frequency enough to stir the conscience of society. He was very supportive of this idea and offered to have us on his radio program.

We hope to have the opportunity to be on Fr. Pavone’s radio program and to work with Priests for Life in the future as we pray The Anti-Choice Project will not only hasten the end to abortion here in Kitsap County, but across America as well.
